I called the hotel and explained the situation. The woman I spoke with said that because of the way in which this is done at the hotel it was easy to make error. She put me on hold and apparently called the owner who produced the claim that it was actually a credit. Of course he did this remotely with total disregard for what I could clearly see on my online account statement which has distinct columns for “credits” and “charges”. And apparently said owner was unwilling to speak with me in spite of my request that he call me the next day. The woman was very understanding as were the other Front Desk personnel I had spoken to during this process.

So Priceline forwarded me the concluding email which was that Quality Inn Dyersburg, TN would refund the amount for the room. Unfortunately, when I checked the next day online with my credit card it turned out rather than a refund (credit) they had actually submitted a charge to my credit card.

By following the transactions on my credit card online it was clear that was a significant effort the next day to correct this…unlike what the owner had stated. And interestingly, they amount they credited back was $0.01 short of the amount they had charged me...that’s pretty petty.

I was an invited guest to the room but it was a decent room very clean and a very friendly and helpful staff

I contacted the Quality Inn (Dyersburg, TN) prior to calling Priceline and it was explained to me that the hotel had not received the payment voucher for prepayment of the room from Priceline thus the problem originated at Priceline. This seemed a bit odd given I had provided a significant delay between booking and check-in.

Check in was a problem, because I had asked for a handicap room with a walk-in shower. I am handicapped. I was promised this. Upon check-in i was informed by the clerk and the manager that they do not have any rooms with a Walk-In shower. I was also told during reservation that the room would also be larger to accommodate a wheeled chair. This "handicapped" room I was given is not large enough to permit a wheeled chair to get to the bathroom between the furniture and the bed. The manager said when you get to the regular tub, you stand up out of the wheeled chair and swing yourself in to the tub. I will Never stay in ANY Choice Hotel again! Ever! If I can't trust the person making the reservation, why would I chance it??? I would rather give it No stars!

I say, if you’re going to stop here, enjoy the friendly staff and your stay but BEWARE. Check your credit card statement especially if you’ve used Priceline, Expedia, Hotwire or any of the variety of sites by which you identified this particular property.

I contacted Customer Service at Priceline and engaged two quite laborious and essentially non-productive chat sessions and four telephone calls during which a couple of the Priceline representative actually contacted the hotel in attempts to resolve the matter. More often than not the person with appropriate authority was not available at the hotel but it turned out each call generated a new explanation of how the double billing came about. Eventually Priceline had contacted the appropriate person at the hotel who stated that the voucher came in from Priceline after I was charged by the hotel. My conclusion is that if this were truly the case they could have easily removed the charge upon receiving the voucher.

Stayed 3 nights the room was clean and staff was nice. Would stay again

It is clear that the owner is the key part of the problem with respect to customer service. Perhaps in properly maintaining the equipment necessary to effect business with Priceline and certainly in giving proper training and authority to the personnel who work his front desk and actually interact with the customers his business would be better. But then again, he’s on the freeway and likely that most customers are only stopping once on the way through and he doesn’t have to worry about what they think.

They're amazing!! Our house burnt Tuesday and they were so helpful to us. The rooms were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. They were so polite to us and give us their sympathy for our home burning two days before thanksgiving. Thank you so much quality inn!!!! We will definitely be back in the future for a get away!!!

I made a Priceline reservation for this hotel as this usually works pretty smoothly. I had selected a “Pay Later” booking and actually spent time to have dinner and check out the town a bit before attempting check-in. The hotel was clean, quiet and provided a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, during this stay I was billed by both Priceline and the hotel.
